Passed today at 71. He left a legacy of music and, most importantly, enthusiasm for the making of music. Rest in peace....

The Weight performed at Woodstock. Time delay between video and audio but still well worth a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vou51-755I&;feature=related

If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band,

The Heartbeat Of The World Skipped A Beat Today.....

This is Heartbreaking news. Levon was such a great talent with such a distinctive voice:

We've lost a lot of great musicians from my youth over the years, but I don't think any of them has affected me this much since we lost Jerry.

"We just lost an original...
Now Jerry has a great rhythm section..." - Mickey Hart on his FB page.

Damn. That gave me chills...reminds me of how incredibly funky this song is at its core. He will sorely, sorely be missed.

Nice version with Levon, Rick ("Wait a minute Chester"), and Dr. John doing the verses.

Rest in Peace Levon. I will miss you. Thank-you for all the art you created and your spirit. You had no voice when you tried to sing lately, but what could have been a time for sorrow you turned into a celebration of life and brought the crowd along with you. A huge middle finger in the face of death. I hope to leave with half the grace you showed publicly, as I will privately. I have a powerful sadness, unmatched except for Jerry passing and my family members.

Yeah, this one showed up in my email. Fen, I'm sorry if I caused confusion, but if I was to go out it would be the fade away method, not a note. I'm still on board.

I just have nothing to say and less time to say it these days. I am just pissed off at the way we treat each other. Rasta made his choice and it's his deal. He had put time into thinking about it since last October, so it wasn't a spur of the moment deal, at least from my perspective.

IA could be so much more, but it's not (and I'm not just writing of the last few weeks)

This is my email

I'm going to come back in a short bit and take my email down. Please email and forgive me if it takes a few days to reply. Numerous folks have my email and they have my permission to give it to you. Please give me your handle in the subject line the first time. Sean

Thanks for the sweet post Fen.
